What is Inhalation Sedation?
Inhalation sedation, also known as "happy gas" or "laughing gas," involves breathing in a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a comfortable (sometimes with a flavour) mask. This method of sedation helps reduce anxiety, creating a sense of calm while keeping you fully conscious and responsive. Once the mask is taken out, the effects of the sedation wear off quickly, allowing you to carry on with your day as normal.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
- Consultation: We’ll discuss your medical history and ensure inhalation sedation is suitable for you or your child.
- Sedation Process: A small mask is placed over your nose, and you’ll breathe in the calming gas.
- Treatment: Once you feel fully relaxed, we will begin your dental procedure while ensuring your comfort at all times.
- Recovery: The effects wear off within minutes, so you’ll be able to leave the practice shortly after your appointment without needing an escort.
