COVID changes

We have been up and running for some time now and have got back to almost our pre covid levels of service delivery. Despite the recent changes made by the government, we as a healthcare setting have been asked to continue with many of the measures that were set earlier. This is to protect our vulnerable patient population with perhaps a weakened general health status.

The measures that will continue to exist are-

  • Please arrive at your appointment time, a member of the team will greet you at the door where you will be asked to use the hand sanitiser.
  • Please respect social distancing, where possible.
  • Please be advised we still prefer to accept card payments.
  • We would still advice you to arrive in a face mask.

We politely request that you postpone your appointment if you present with the following symptoms-

• Fever (a temperature over 37.8 degrees centigrade).
• A new persistent cough.
• Loss of taste and smell

Cold sores

Cold sores are caused by a virus called Herpes simplex and can be highly contagious. They usually start with a itching, burning or tingling sensation. They can then form fluid filled blisters that then burst, form a crust and then start healing.

They remain contagious from the point of the burning/ tingling sensation to until they are completely healed.

If you feel that a cold sore is about to arrive or you notice one for the first time, we would ask you kindly to reschedule your routine appointments with both the dentist and the hygienist as not only are they highly contagious but whilst we try to work in your mouth they may cause further discomfort by breaking the crust or bleeding. The aerosol (fine air and fluid droplets) generated by most dental procedures can transfer the virus onto other body parts both for you and the clinician. However, in an emergency situation where the appointment cannot be postponed, we would encourage you to cover the spot with a cold sore plaster before you attend the appointment. We shall endeavour to attend to your dental emergency in the most suitable manner whilst being mindful of the cold sore.

Massive Congratulations!

We are extremely happy for two of our team members who have given birth to handsome young chaps recently ! Our Practice Manager, Sarah along with partner Craig have had their son Archie William Salisbury in December 2021 and our Head Nurse Lauren with her husband Jack welcomed Oscar George Thomas Overy in February 2022. Both sets of mums and babies are doing very well.

New additions to the team

We would like to welcome our new dental nurse Lynsey Curtis as a result of the recent changes to the team. She is an experienced dental nurse but has had a break from nursing for some years and is now looking forward to getting back to it. She is also a Zumba teacher at Goldenstones in Yeovil so some of you might recognise her already ! I hope you would welcome her just as you have the rest of the new additions.

Complex surgical extractions now offered at the practice

With the start of our dentist with enhanced skills in Oral Surgery, Dr Julia Farmer, it is become even more convenient for existing and new patients to access this service. In the event that your general dental practitioner cannot perform a complex tooth extraction then we will be able to help. Please contact us and our friendly reception team will be able to help.

Bank holiday closures

We will be closed on the following dates-

Friday 15th to Monday 18 April 2022, we will reopen with our usual opening hours from Tuesday the 19th of April.

Monday 2nd May 2022, we will reopen with our usual opening hours from Tuesday the 3rd of May.

Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd of June 2022, we will reopen with our usual opening hours from Monday the 6th of June.

If you have a dental emergency during this period, please contact us on 01935823040 where you will be directed to an appropriate course of action.

It has been 2 years since the practice had changed hands to the current Principal, Lakshmi Kanneganti. It has been incredibly demanding, not to mention COVID but we are very grateful for your continued support.

In this time, we have invested in new equipment and staff training to make your treatments world class and to meet good industry standards.

COVID 19 did effect appointment delivery but we are back open and here for all your dental needs albeit a bit slower than usual!

A new look for Martock Dental Practice

In April and May, we will be having some building work carried out at the practice. This new work will mean that the practice will have a downstairs patient toilet and it will also provide us with a separate discussion room where we can discuss treatment plans and queries in a private and confidential area.

If you have an appointment in this time it shall remain and we will contact you to advise you of the latest protocol should there be any changes.

We aim to keep disruption to a minimum but please be patient with us, there may be a bit of background noise! We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused during this time.

We are excited to show you our new look once completed.

New team members

In 2019 we started off with 7 team members and we are now nearly 15! This expansion will hopefully translate for you to be seen more quicker with a greater support to your ongoing dental care.

In the last few weeks, we welcomed Megan, dental nurse apprentice and Michelle, dental receptionist to the team. They are both settling in well and Megan is looking forward to starting her training course. We are sure they will make great assets for the practice and help looking after you even better.

In the end of May, we will have Dr Emmanouil Pagoulatos DMD starting with us working 2 days a week. He is a brilliant general dentist and is working towards an Advanced Restorative Post Graduate course from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London. Please read his full biodata on our website and on our social media pages in the next few days.
