Happy February from all of us at Martock Dental Practice!
As we enter the month of love, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued trust in our dental care services.
This month, we have some exciting updates, helpful tips, and special features to share with you.
Healthy gums can equate to general wellness
February is Gum Health Awareness Month, underscoring the significance of maintaining healthy gums. It has been clinically proven that gum disease can have an impact on your overall health and wellbeing- ranging from heart issues to poor diabetic control.
Gum disease also has a high relapse rate. Regular hygiene appointments are crucial for preventing gum disease and ensuring overall oral well-being. If it’s time for your hygiene appointment, please contact us to schedule.
Pediatric Dentistry: Fostering Healthy Smiles in Children
February is also Kids’ Dental Health Month, we encourage parents to schedule dental check-ups for their little ones as early as they get even a single tooth erupted in their mouths!
Early dental care lays the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. We recommend that you bring your babies along to your own dental checkups or those of their older siblings.
We may not be able to do much when they are very little, but it provides them with a vaulable sensory experience. Our highly experienced team is here to provide gentle and caring dental services for children of all ages.
Are tooth straightening or orthodontic treatments only for teenagers?
This is a common question we get asked at the practice. Aligned teeth generally tend to be easier to maintain, not to mention the overall confidence boost it gives!
Whilst it is easier to move teeth in the teenage years as they tend to have more malleable bones and also less pre-existing dental work (such as crowns/ dental implants), it is not impossible to align teeth when you are much older.
We have treated patients well into their 60s at the practice and into 80s elsewhere, it is never too late to ask us about your options.
Weathering Winter: Dental Care Tips
Ooh, how wonderful does a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows sound?!
As tempting as it may be, it is loaded with sugar – as we always recommend, keep to short meal times – three of those a day and include any sugars within a meal.
This reduces the number of sugary battles your teeth have to fight and so keeping them stronger for longer!
Practice Updates: End of an era of NHS services at Martock Dental
After much deliberation, we decided to hand back our already very small NHS contract, which comes to an end on the 29th of February 2024. With the added time that we have now bought from not doing all the paperwork, we can now spend the time to look after our valued patients.
